Sculpture Reefs




With a background in scuba diving and sculptures, it was only natural that Artist Jason deCaires Taylor would create something merging marine life and art. What resulted are incredible cement sculptures of all types of settings and situations - each piece is like a snapshot of the circumstance a person or animal is in. Hundreds of pieces are submerged underwater to recreate coral reefs that were destroyed but are necessary to sustain marine life. Even though the sculptures would end up in a place not many would be lucky enough to experience first hand, Taylor did not skimp on the details. Check out the video below to see how fish, coral and other undersea creatures interact with these human-like "reefs"!
