Art Project to Celebrate Food Security

In celebration of this year’s UN World Environment Day theme, “Think, Eat, Save,” Loomstate has joined up with some of the biggest eco brand names in the apparel business - Puma, Quicksilver, Patagonia and many others - to celebrate organic cotton farming and food security (the two go hand-in-hand). Each of the 12 brands is sponsoring one school in an organic cotton farming community, where food is grown alongside fiber.

Loomstate’s sponsored school, Nachiar Vidyalayam, is part of the Appachi Organic Cotton farming community in Tamil Nadu, India. Appachi is one of the best examples of how holistic community sustainability programs can revitalize and restore. Nestled between an elephant corridor and a tiger sanctuary, Appachi has been steadily convincing farms within their region to protect the ecosystem by making the switch to organic. By providing health care, education, and economic advantages, Appachi has created an inspiring model for the whole region. We are proud to have the chance to sponsor the talented and bright youth of Nachiar Vidyalayam and want to say thank you to the entire Appachi community. Learn more about Appachi.

Students of Nachiar Vidyalayam have created some beautiful pieces of art and we need your help to choose one of them as the winner. They are all so amazing, we couldn't decide on our own.  Please vote by "liking" your favorite piece on Facebook. The winning art piece will move onto the next round!
