For Humankind

This past weekend, SoHo saw a pop-up of ideas and innovations aimed at improving lives around the globe - For Humankind. It kicked off with a fun show with fun dance pop from MNDR, but the real highlights were in the exhibits scattered around OpenHouse Gallery. Here are a few of the participants we documented if you missed it.

Bodega Algae: Cultivating algae to produce biofuel.

Plant-in City envisions a plant-filled future.

Soccket: Soccer balls as power generators.

The Not Impossible Project invented the EyeWriter, a pair of low-cost glasses with free open source software that allow drawing, writing, and communicating using only the eyes. The incredible story behind the design and testing is documented in Getting Up: The Tempt One Story - it was inspired by LA graffiti legend "TemptOne" who was diagnosed with ALS, leaving him physically paralyzed.

Powerful ideas, innovative designs and inspiring messages. For more, visit ForHumankind.org.
