Earth Day in Rockaway

A threat of rain was no deterrence to the Earth Day in Rockaway festivities.  The local community and a handful of sustainable brands (like, ahem, Loomstate) met in a barren dirt lot this past weekend to build an edible community garden! Eventually the sun broke through the clouds, music played on and inch by inch the garden grew.... the beds were built from reclaimed wood, the plants nestled into the soil, and the lady bugs were introduced to their new home in Rockaway. It was a great day and we were so happy to share organic cotton information and hand out organic cotton plant starter kits, complete with a mixture of Brooklyn Blend soil and Loomstate office compost! Join us on Facebook to see more photos and find out about the next volunteer opportunity.
